Every child is a unique individual, with different abilities and needs.
At times, I know it can seem difficult to know how to best help your child.
There is a lot of information about supporting autism out there, which can be confusing and conflicting.
There is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
Using my expertise and experience, I help parents and carers by:
- Focusing on your child and their individual strengths and needs. Every child is unique.
- Enhancing your knowledge about autism, sensory and communication needs
- Give advice or help you to identify and implement strategies to support your child, with specific outcomes in mind (e.g. reduce 'meltdowns' or support with eating)
- Equipping you with a range of 'tools' and strategies to help yourself and your child.
Examples of specific themes of support I can help with:
- advice to help children make progress with their communication
- understand why children are behaving in a certain way
- reduce 'challenging' or self injurious behaviour
- ideas for learning activities
- understand sensory seeking or sensory avoiding and how to support this
- toilet training
- feeding and exploring new foods
- to manage emotions and learn self regulating strategies
- to develop new play skills
- meaningful interactions with children
- help children to make smooth transitions during the day (without getting upset)
- sensory activities at home to meet sensory needs
I can teach you strategies that will really make a difference!
Over the past 10 years, I have taught many children with a wide range of complex needs and abilities.
I have learnt many helpful, evidence-based strategies that really help children to understand, communicate, learn and make good progress.
Children with autism learn differently. We therefore need to parent and teach differently.
