I am so excited to announce some exciting news!

I have changed the name of the consultancy service and website from ‘ASD Teacher’ to ‘Autism Spectrum Teacher’.

The main reason is due to myself feeling disconnected with the term ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) because of the word disorder.

The word disorder carries a meaning of something that is ‘wrong’ or needs to ‘be fixed’. It is my view that we should definitely not be thinking this way about autism and therefore does not reflect the content on this website, or the vision for my consultancy and training.

Autism is a thinking, learning and sensory processing difference. Our environment and approach towards autism can ‘disable’ people. There is so much we can do to adapt the environment, at home, in the community or in our classrooms, that will really empower and support autistic individuals. I have written a lot of blog posts about different strategies and resources that can really help. You can read the blog posts here.

I have explained the name change in a bit more detail in the video below. I have also announced the launch of the new website and podcast!

I have also posted this video on my Facebook page here. Join my Facebook page community to also get all the latest news and information!
